Join Youth MOJO!
Youth MOJO was established in 2009 by youth for youth and is a leadership development program centered around social justice, community engagement, and community organizing around low-income and working class families. Our leadership program trains youth with leadership, advocacy, communication, research, and organizing skills.
Through Youth MOJO, our youth have worked on campaigns to save Healthy Families, a California health insurance program for low-income families, from being cut and a campaign to save St. Luke's Hospital, one of the 2 hospitals in southern San Francisco, from downsizing. We have also mobilized around the annual California budget, particularly around cuts to education and social services. This summer Youth MOJO will be conducting a youth-led community research project to help determine where future health services will be located in San Francisco.
Youth MOJO will run from June 1 to August 5, 2011 and will kick off the summer with a 4 day 3 night (all expense covered) Youth Leadership Retreat on June 5 to June 8 at the Point Reyes Youth Hostel, north of San Francisco.
We are currently accepting online applications until May 20, 2011 and students may apply at http://bit.ly/youthmojo2011.
Current high school freshmen through juniors are encouraged to apply.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Natalie Gee, Youth Membership Coordinator at natalie@cpasf.org.
